Insurance

If you use your X-sail in a public place, you should think about taking out a policy for third part liability insurance.

Then if your actions cause damage or injury to someone or something else, then you are insured for it.

There are several ways to do this.

Before you do anything else, you should check any insurance policies you may have already - including your home or contents policy. If they don't cover you for activites such as "Land yachting" then you should ask if the policy cover can be extended.

Another way is to join a Club or Association which includes insurance as part of the membership package - always check that this covers you for X-sailing anywhere you choose, as some of these club policies only cover you for the beaches or sites that the club uses regularly.

Lastly, there are several companies offering insurance for Activities, and it needn't be expensive. They start around £35-40 a year.

Our recommendation for insurance for X-sailing, or any kind of sports insurance is SportsCover Direct Insurance. Their standard policy will cover you for all landyachting - including racing in competitions (don't let anyone tell you otherwise, we have written confirmation from Sportscover specifically about competitions) You can choose an annual travel package with them too, including the activity insurance, which does save you money if you take your toys abroad. You can see the pricing online before you make your decision.
