This is a bearing for those X-sailors who are keen on getting more performance from their machine and don't mind doing some maintenance to keep going fast.
These bearings are made from hardened steel rather than stainless steel and are considered faster as they are harder. The pay-off is that they require a lot of attention.
The trick is to remove the seal on one side before fitting them to your hub, and washing the factory grease out with a solvent. Then spray them with WD-40 or similar, and fit them to your hub with the remaining seal to the outside.
In the future, removing the wheel from the axle will mean you can simply spray the inside of the bearings. Keeping the bearings dry (of water) and lubed will make them last longer than just leaving them as you can with stainless steel bearings.
Some of our customers also balance their wheels using blu-tac - spin the wheel and mark the spot at the bottom of the wheel when it stops. (Sometimes you can feel the wheel is unbalanced.) If the wheel always stops at the same place, add a small lump of blu-tac to the opposite side and spin again. Repeat until the wheel stops with a random spot at the bottom.
Sold separately so you'll need to order 2 for 1 wheel. You need 6 to replace all 3 wheels on 1 X-sail.
