X-sail on The Gadget Show

X-sail was asked to take part in a Camping Special for Channel 5's  The Gadget Show

Gadget-Show-Suzi-Polly-900pix-websizeAfter a minimal amount of instruction presenter Pollyanna Woodward and guest Nikki Grahame (of Big Brother fame) were let loose on the beach at Westward Ho! in Devon. The wind was 8-12 mph. Nikki was very reluctant at first, but after only one lap was whooping and grinning. It was a great demonstration of how easy the X-sail is to use, even for folk who are not at all outdoorsy.

X-sails win 5 Hour Berck competition

The X-sail took the 1st and 2nd place honours again in Europe. The 21st edition of the 5 hour race was held in Berck, France. Especially for the "Mini" class, each team of 2 pilots would take turns to see how far they could go in 5 hours, racing against the other teams.  It was a sunny weekend but they didn’t predict any wind. But they were lucky, and even with little wind they sailed very fast, with the  2 X-sail teams coming first and second.

Some pilots came from Belgium, the Netherlands and another from the sunny south of France. It was like a game between pilots and wind that went on for 5 hours. The Belgian pilots (F. Peulinckx and J. Sonneville) were 1st and the Dutch (J. Veldman and E. Veldman) were 2nd with their X-sails. Well done, and keep up the 100% record for this new "Mini" class in Europe being won by X-sails.

X-sail wins at 1st Euro "minis" competition

There is a new FISLY official class of landyacht - the "minis" - and the X-sail fits the specification. The first event for this new class in Europe was the Sycod cup held in Oostduinkerke in Belgium. Johnny Sonneville in his X-sail was first in all 8 races. In most races the X-sail was one complete lap ahead of the next competitor at the finish.

The new mini class makes life more interesting for everyone. The big brands racing against one another is more fun than just racing against themselves. The landyacht clubs across Europe should all be hosting a Mini event in 2011. If you hear of an event please let us know and we'll pass it along to all X-sailers by email.

Demo Day Heist 21Feb2010

Johnny and his team are having a free demo day on the beach at Heist, in Belgium. They are offering X-sail rides for anyone who wants to drop by between 10.00hr and 15.00hr. To check out the details or book your spot, visit www.x-sail.be

New Larger Wheels

We've just taken delivery of our new Larger Wheels - with 8" diameter hubs.

Our R & D team in Europe have extensively tested them and are amazed at the results. They report that they can deliver about 40-60% more speed, and you can use a lighter wind to get moving, and head much tighter to the wind. They are also better in softer sand, and have a much more accurate steering turn.

X-sail at the NEC Birmingham Nov 2009

Our X-sail Flyers, Mike and Jane, are exhibiting at The Flying Show on Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th November in Hall 12, on Stand 69 at the NEC. This is the major annual Sports Flying Exhibition in the UK,which includes light and microlight aircraft, paramotors, paragliders, gyrocopters, and the new class of de-regulated flying machines - together with many associated interests.

Red-Arrows-with-x-sail

Mike and Jane are Microlight and Ultralight pilots who got involved with X-sailing this Spring. After falling in love with it themselves they have spent the rest of the year spreading the gospel amongst the light aviation world, attending Air Shows, exhibitions and fly-ins around the UK. The X-sail is the ideal toy for anyone with the use of an airfield, and whose normal sport is cut-short when the wind is strong. The X-sail Flyers are a growing happy band, with a tremendous knowledge of airfields, dis-used or otherwise. If you live in the Midlands or North of England it would be worth picking their brains, or even arranging to join them the next time they're out for a play. Email them.

Call at the stand and say "Hello"
